Beyond Reasonable Doubt

September 13, 2007

Verdict is in. Guilty! Guilty beyond reasonable doubt si Erap — of bad acting…. este of  Plunder pala. Surprised? Not really. Elated? Hmmm OA naman pag elated. More of  relief siguro. A “not guilty” verdict will mean more trouble. So ang resulta … EDSAx where “x” depends on the number of times someone is protesting on the street of EDA.

I hear d about the news during lunch. Kaya ayun – pagkatapos na pagkatapos kumain — internet agad inatupag naming. Gusto naming makitsismis sa mga pangyayari e. I was actually expecting major kaguluhan. Isip ko – tiyak na magkakagulo sa Makati (where Binay distributes permit to rally sa mga opposition supporters na para bang flyer ng isang bagong bukas na resto) or sa Mendiola (near Malacanang – mas may impact… not to mention the historical events na sa Mendiola lagi nanggagaling) or sa EDSA ( para maincrement ang EDSAx… at matraffic ang ayaw sumali!). But to my surprise – relatively peaceful ang lahat. Good… it seems that the Filipinos are slowly maturing in relation to politics.  I also downloaded the full Sandigan Bayan decision and read it. Di ko man naintindihan ang lahat – I can say that my curiosity on how the Sandiganbayan come up with the decision has been quenched.

When I arrived home – nanood ako ng TV Patrol. As expected – its Erap everywhere.  They did a good  coverage – much of  the sectors are interviewed/featured. They even have a feature on the reporters/press people. Isa lang sa pintas ko — they should do away with the sensationalized reporting. Oo na… the message have been received…. di na kailangan pang-i-OA!

Habang pinapanood ko yung mga news features — I can’t help but feel sad. Talagang iniisip nila na Erap is their savior who can do no wrong.  Pinipilit ko ngang intindihin how they were able to come up with that belief. Masa talaga.  Talagang blind followers sila — which is pretty obvious when they were asked kung alam nila ang ibig sabihin ng “Plunder”.  Halos walang makasagot. Ano yun? Where they misinformed? Kung ako kasi yun – I would need to know ano ba yung Plunder… bakit sya pinaparatangan ng Plunder etc. What is the difference between my way of  thinking and their way of thinking? Education? Probably…. Economic Status ?  Possibly - given that Erap is very much supported by the Masa and not by the upper class.  Anyway – each person has the right to choose who to support. I-respeto na lang natin ang choice nila. Sana lang ay irespeto din nila ang choice nating mga naniniwala that Erap is guilty – both of  plunder… and bad acting.

Pahabol…

I often hear comments like “ Hindi lang naman si Era pang nagnanakaw. Bakit sya ikukulong”… or something to that effect. Isa lang masasabi ko dito – focus….. this is the Estrada plunder case. We should focus and decided if he committed plunder or not. Tapos. Of course may iba pang magnanakaw. He did something wrong — and he has to pay for it. If in case napatunayan din a nangungurakot si Ate Glo – then she has  to be charged and convicted as well - seperately.
