How many islands does the Philippines have?

Personally – my answer will be 7,107 islands. Bakit? Yun ang natatandaan ko e. Apparently — there are other answers. According to the article — some book says 7,100, more than 7,100… or even 7,038. So.. ano talaga ang tutuo? Nakakalito no? Now I am wondering kung sino ba talaga ang dapat may final say sa kung ilang isla meron ang Pilipinas. Is it really possible to count one by one? Or approximation na lang? Ano ang basis para maiconsider na island ang island? Kailangan lang ba na it’s a land mass surrounded by water? Or may minimum size? As mentioned in the follow-up article – kasama ba sa count ang Spratlys? Kasi technically di pa ito sa Pilipinas. O hindi muna – and addendum na lang if in case may isla na mapunta sa Pilipinas ang ownernship? Counted ba ang Splash Island as an Island? Sino nagturo kay Charlene na 7,107 pag high tide at 7,108 pag low tide? Talaga bang 1 lang island ang natatakpan ng tubig pag high tide? As in binantayan nila lahat ng island pag high tide?
Hay.. gulo no? Dami questions? Dami pa pilosopo (Splash Island… naku !!!) Pero kidding aside – di ba talaga ito malalaman? Or is it really that important to know the exact figure? Tingin ko di naman masyado —- as if naman magiging first world country ang Pilipinas pag napatunayan 7,107 talaga ang exact count. Ewan – basta ako…. 7,107 ang sagot ko dyan palagi….. yan yata ang turo ng guro ko!
